What is AZYFL Girls Flag Football?
AZYFL Girls Flag Football is a competitive 7v7 development league dedicated to preparing female athletes for high school flag football and beyond. The league focuses on skill development, football IQ, leadership, and creating opportunities for athletes to compete at a higher level.
What makes AZYFL different?
AZYFL is built around athlete development, not just winning games. Our focus includes football IQ, position development, teamwork, leadership, confidence, high-level competition, and preparing athletes for varsity and beyond.
Can playing in AZYFL help prepare me for high school football?
Yes. AZYFL is specifically designed to expose athletes to the speed, spacing, and concepts they will experience in high school 7v7 competition.
Player Eligibility & Experience
Who can participate?
The league is open to junior high girls in 6th–8th grade who are preparing for high school flag football, current high school athletes looking to continue developing during the offseason, individual players, and full teams.
Can current high school players participate?
Yes. High school athletes are encouraged to participate during the offseason to continue improving their skills and stay game-ready.
Can beginners play?
Absolutely. Whether an athlete is new to flag football or already has years of experience, AZYFL provides a competitive yet supportive environment where every athlete can develop.
Do I need previous flag football experience?
No. Athletes of all experience levels are welcome.
Can I register without a team?
Yes. Individual players may register as Free Agents, and AZYFL will work to place them on a team whenever possible.
Teams & Coaches
Can an entire team register?
Yes. Teams are encouraged to register together.
Can high school coaches coach their athletes?
Yes. AZYFL encourages high school coaches to participate during the offseason to continue developing their athletes and strengthen their programs.
Can recreational or club coaches register a team?
Yes. Recreational, club, and travel organizations are welcome to register teams.
Where are practices held?
Practices are organized by each individual team and coach.
League Format, Games & Rules
What format does AZYFL play?
AZYFL uses a 7v7 format designed to mirror the style of play used by Arizona high school programs, with a few league-specific modifications.
What rules are used?
League play follows Arizona high school girls flag football rules with league-specific modifications.
How many games will teams play?
Each season includes regular-season games followed by playoffs and championship opportunities. The exact schedule may vary by season.
Where are games played?
Games are played at select high school stadiums and athletic facilities throughout Arizona.

How much does registration cost?
Registration fees vary by season.
Current season registration is $175 per athlete.
What does registration include?
Registration includes league participation, scheduled games, certified officials, league administration, championship eligibility, and an AZYFL flag belt set. Uniforms may be purchased separately if applicable.
Media, Streaming & Highlights
Will games be live streamed?
Select games, playoff matchups, and championship games may be streamed live with play-by-play commentary.
Will photos and videos be available?
Yes. Game photos and highlights will be shared throughout the season on AZYFL’s social media channels.
